Background
Pill bugs are in a family of woodlice known as Armadillidiidae and in the phylum anthropoda. They differ from other members in this family because they have the ability to roll into a ball. This characteristic gives them their common name of "rollie pollies." Pill bugs are cold blooded and are commonly found in house foundations, gardens, and basements. They prefer dark and moist environments and are usually under rocks or other things. They survive off of organic matter from grass, mulch, and leafs. Pill bugs reproduce throughout the year. The females carry their eggs in a pouch on the bottom of their bodies. These pouches carry roughly 200 pill bugs and most have about one pouch per year, but some have more. The average lifespan of pill bugs ranges from 2-5 years.

Conclusion
1.) The independent variables are whether the paper towel was wet or dry. Thus, the wet paper towel and the dry paper towel. The dependent variables are the pill bugs choices in direction. Either to the chamber with the damp paper towel or to the chamber with the dry paper towel.
2.) We can conclude that the pill bugs have a tendency to be attracted to a more damp environment. This conclusion is proved because after 9 minutes, all of the pill bugs were located in the chamber with the damp paper towel and none were in the chamber with the dry one. This clearly shows that pill bugs prefer the wet paper towel over the dry.
3.) I believe that we would have the same trends if this lab were conducted with an earthworm. Earthworms and pill bugs are similar in that they both prefer dark and moist environments. Both are found in gardens, basements, under rocks and in the soil. If earthworms went through the same experiment, there would most likely be the same results, being that after 9 minutes, all would be in the chamber with the wet paper towels and none would be in the chamber with the dry. They are similar because they share many of the same characteristics. They also share the same habitat thus making their behavior similar and giving explanation for why both prefer moist, dark environments.
