Hierarchy of Ecology
2.) The Biosphere level encompasses all of the other levels of Ecology. The ecosystem is the smallest level that has abiotic factors. Below is a picture of a pole from our scavenger hunt that is an abiotic factor.
4.) An apple's habitat consists of the edges of forests, it grows in an apple tree and later falls when it is fully developed. Apple trees grow best in areas with lots of sun and where the soil is deep, moist, and well-drained. An apples niche is a food source and used for carbon fixation.
5.) If apples were removed, the habitat would be affected by a decrease in food source from the apples and a decrease in carbon fixation since there would be no more photosynthesis and respiration from the apples.
5.) If apples were removed, the habitat would be affected by a decrease in food source from the apples and a decrease in carbon fixation since there would be no more photosynthesis and respiration from the apples.
Demography
1.The study of the characteristics of human populations, such as size, growth, density, distribution, and vital statistics. There are four factors used to analyze a population’s health and future. The four are: percentage of minorities, 5 year growth, population density, and percentage of females. Population density is the number of people living per unit of an area (e.g. per square mile); the number of people relative to the space occupied by them. 5 year growth refers to the growth/ decrease in a population over a 5 year time period.
2.) Below is a picture of a logistic growth curve. The middle section of the model were the slope is greatest represents the rapid population growth, when the birth rate is significantly higher than the death rate. The carrying capacity is the part of the graph at the top were the slope greatly decreases and levels out. Carrying capacity is defined as the limit of a population in order for it to survive.

3.) Age structure allows us to see if the population of a country is
growing, stable, or decreasing.
4.) A.) Our country was Norway.
B.) Its geographic location is in Scandinavia. It is one of the northern-most countries in Europe being west of Sweden and north of Denmark. Its terrain includes
mountain ranges and beaches. Its shores run along the Norwegian Sea.
C.) The crude birth rate (CBR) is 11 (per 1000 population) while the crude death rate (CDR) is 9 (per 1000 population).
D.) Norway is considered a highly developed country.
E.) Fifteen point nine percent of the population is over sixty-five in Norway.
F.) Based on the age structure, the population of Norway is increasing.
5.) A.) Mexico is increasing rapidly based on the age structure. We know this because the positive difference between birth rate and death rate is highest in Mexico.
B.) China is one of the countries experiencing a slow growth rate because the percentages of their younger generations are much lower
than those of the older age groups. The birth rate is thus lower than the death rate, creating a slow growth or even possibility of
decrease.

World In Balance: People Paradox
The Indian population currently is maintaining a great increase in birthrates thus contributing to its growing population. The population in Japan is moving in the opposite direction being that there is a higher death rate than birth rate. There are much more people of the older generations than that of younger generations in Japan. This leads to a decreasing population. The population of Sub-Saharan Africa is similar to that of India, being that there is a higher birthrate than death rate and thus an increasing population. In short, the populations of India and Sub-Saharan Africa are increasing while the population of Japan is declining. The problems that face India are the possibility of having a daughter. The mothers fear having daughters because it is much more preferable to have son. Men are considered to contribute much more to society than women so mothers hope to have sons. The women are seen for the sole purpose of child-bearing and do not really serve any other purpose in society. In Japan the most problem is with how to care for the elders in society. There are much more older people than younger people so the issue is that there are not enough people to take care of the elders. The women are usually responsible for caring for the elders; the daughter or daughter-in-law care for her elders, however since the population is decreasing, there is less care for elders so they most be more independent.
Food Chain/Food Web
The majority of energy in this food chain is in the flower tree and the sun.
